The
holidays have a
way of sneaking
up on us, and I
have a feeling that
this year will be
no exception. Thanksgiving
is right around
the corner, and
before we know it
the winter festivities
and the rush to
buy holiday gifts
will begin. Our
cover shot provides
a glimpse of the
Wellesley Cotillion,
a long-standing
tradition in our
town. No doubt holiday
dress shopping has
already begun as
Wellesley’s
high school juniors
and seniors gear
up for this year’s
Cotillion, to be
held on Saturday,
December 5th.
This
issue is filled
with holiday-focused
articles covering
subjects ranging
from shopping for
pearls to preparing
homemade hostess
gifts to celebrating
the winter solstice.
It is also filled
with beautiful ads
created by local
businesses that
will help to generate
a multitude of gift
ideas. I encourage
you to “shop
local” this
year and support
the merchants that
we are fortunate
to have in the nearby
area.
Our
holiday issue always
features spectacular
photography, and
I’d
like to use this
space to thank all
of the companies
and individuals
who supplied photos
for this issue.
The gorgeous photos
of pearls from local
jewelers and the
stunning shots of
yoga poses from
A Little Yoga are
just a couple of
examples of how
our friends and
advertisers help
make this magazine
vibrant and visually
appealing.
I
have the opportunity
to attend many local
events, and my ears
are always ringing
from the kind words
I hear about WellesleyWeston
Magazine’s articles, photography,
and event coverage.
Our Inbox section
seems to be particularly
well read, with
local business news
and photos of the
people who make
things happen in
our towns. About
Town is very popular
as well, especially
because there are
such a wide variety
of events being
attended by our
friends and neighbors.
With so much happening
in both our towns,
there is never a
dull moment and
it is always such
a pleasure to meet
interesting new
people.
Our
big news this fall
was the launch of
our blog, wwmblog.com.
The blog gives us
the capability to
publicize more events
with our event calendar
and to post photos
we don’t
have space for in
the magazine. It
also gives our readers
and writers the
opportunity to weigh
in on subjects of
importance to them.
I encourage you
to visit our blog
often and comment
on what you see.
If you have an event
to add to our calendar
or photos from an
event you would
like to post on
the blog, please
e-mail Jill Nilsen
at jill@wellesleywestonmagazine.com.
The
holiday season provides
us with the perfect
excuse to be thankful
for where we live,
who our friends
are, and what we
can do to help others.
I hope you enjoy
the very best of
the holiday season
and the new year.
Sincerely,
Beth
